Men of the Ogun State Police command have arrested three women in Mamugba village, Simawa in Sagamu area of the state for the alleged murder of a yet to be identified man. The suspects are, Rukayat Basorun, Omobola shodimu and Aanu owoade.

The deceased, said to be the lover of Rukayat Basorun, had visited her, to spend some time but died in a suspicious circumstances in the house of the suspect.


The Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement in Abeokuta on Mondday, disclosed that the suspects we

re arrested following information that they had secretly dumped a corpse in the bush.

According to Oyeyemi, acting on the information, the DPO of the  Ogijo Divisional Police Headquarters, Tijani Mohammed, led his men to the area where the main suspect, Rukayat Basorun was arrested.

Oyeyemi disclosed further that Police investigation revealed that the deceased was Rukayat’s lover who came to spend some time with her but

According to Oyeyemi, “Rukayat then connived with her two other accomplice to take the dead body and dump it in the bush. On interrogation, Rukayat confessed that the deceased was her man friend who came to visit her but suddenly fell sick”.

“She stated further that she took him to a private hospital but the money charged by the hospital was too much for her to pay which made her to take him to an undisclosed clinic where she said the man gave up the ghost,” Oyeyemi said.

When asked the reason why she decided to dump the corpse in the bush, she could not give any reasonable response.

The corpse has been recovered and deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) mortuary for autopsy.

Oyeyemi disclosed the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigations.
