Our education policies already yielding positive results, Governor Abiodun

Ogun State Governor on Saturday disclosed that his administration’s policies on education are already yielding positives results, stressing that the government is irrevocably committed to returning the lost glory of education in the State.
The Governor who disclosed this at the swearing-in ceremony of the National Executives of the National Association of Ogun Students (NAOSS) in Abeokuta, the State capital, reiterated his administration’s commitment to the provision of qualitative and quantitative education.
 
 
Governor Abiodun who spoke through his Special Assistant on Students Matters, Comrade Azeez Adeyemi noted that his government had laid a solid foundation for quality education, insisting that the government had demonstrated seriousness in changing the fortunes of education and solving the mirages of challenges confronting the sector.
The Governor said, “Our government is laying a solid foundation for quality education, we are building a new model for unparallel standard of education.”
“I want to state that the administration of Dapo Abiodun is irrevocably and undoubtedly committed to the provision of qualitative and quantitative education to good people of the State. This administration is resolved to return the lost glory of education in the State.”
“In the last ten months, this administration has demonstrated seriousness in changing the fortunes of education and solving the mirages of challenges confronting the sector. This administration is not unaware of the fact that education is the bedrock of any meaningful development in the society, therefore, we will not relent in our efforts to improve the standard of ,” Governor Abiodun added.
He noted his administration is engaging tertiary institutions’ students, school managements and host communities in fruitful deliberation through the tour of campuses embarked on by his Special Assistant on Students Matters to ascertain the plights students in the State.
The tour, the Governor said would allow him “have first hand information about the true situation in our tertiary institutions, to know the plights of our students as regards what they need, what their school managements are doing that they don’t like, how their host communities have been treating them.”
Governor Abiodun explained that the crises that bedeviled Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Omu-Ijebu and the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta his administration came on board were peacefully resolved.
In his inaugural speech, the National President of NAOSS, Comrade Gbemileke Ogunrombi pledged students unalloyed support to the administration of Governor Abiodun.
He charged the Governor to resuscitate the payment of bursary to indigenous students of the State.
The ceremony also witnessed the investiture of Dr. Teniola Adesanya, a Real Estate mogul as the patron of the association.
Delivering his lecture, the Guest Lecturer, Ifekayode Akinbode charged the students to be actively involved in electioneering process in the country.
He called on the students to at all times make conscious effort at putting government on its toes “rather than celebrating corrupt leaders”.
“If you (students) galvanised yourselves together you will determine who comes the President of the country. Enough of electing old leaders in the country, we need to entrench a formidable leadership that will take this country to the next level,” Akinbode said.
