The Ogun State government on Tuesday donated the sum of N1million to the family of a driver, Sauban Koleosho, also known as ’Onila’, who was shot dead recently by men of the Nigeria Customs Service at Kobape in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the State.

The Customs operatives, few weeks ago had shot at the driver after chasing his vehicle on the suspicion that he was conveying smuggled bags of rice.

Making the donation on behalf of government in Abeokuta, the State capital, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, said the money was to take care of some of the immediate needs of the wife and children of the slain driver, pledging that the government was committed to bringing the perpetrators to book.

“I assure you that we will not rest until the perpetrators of the killing are brought to book. We shall do everything within our power to ensure that this family gets justice”, the SSG added.

While maintaining that government would not encourage smuggling and other acts of economic sabotage, the State Scribe urged security agencies in the State to always carry out their activities with utmost civility to prevent re-occurrence of such unfortunate incident.

Responding, the widow, Mrs. Zainab Koleosho, thanked government for the gesture and appealed for further assistance on the education of her four children.
