A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State loyal to the party’s governorship candidate in 2019 election, Senator Buruji Kashamu on Thursday disowned the peace pact reportedly reached between the two warring groups in the State.
Kashamu and the other PDP faction, led by former House of Representatives member, Ladi Adebutu had been at loggerheads over the structure of the party.
But on Wednesday the two groups allegedly met with the National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus where they reportedly agreed to sheath their swords.
However, the Chairman of the Kashamu’s faction, Adebayo Dayo on Thursday dissociated his faction from the peace meeting, insisting that they were not party to the reconciliatory moves.
He alleged that the national Chairman does not want unity in the party, alleging that the Secondus is only after his selfish  and monetary gain.
The factional Chairman insisted that there was no reconciliatory deal between his faction and Adebutu’s  faction, adding that the national chairman is just playing bread and butter politics.
According to him, those who had meeting with the national chairman were “hungry politicians”, “who were looking for money by all means to eat.”
He particularly hinted that Semiu Sodipo who was the party State Secretary and attended the Abuja meeting, had been suspended.
His words, “For the meeting held in Abuja , we are not part of it. Our former secretary who was present there has been suspended before now but we have been tackling that in-house and that is why we haven’t told you people.
“It is just a bread and butter politics that they have been playing; that is what has been going on, otherwise, they said they don’t recognise Engr. Adebayo Dayo led executive and but they recognise the Sikirulahi Ogundele’s exco and a man now came to them as the secretary of Engr. Adebayo Dayo executive and they are now telling everybody that, he is the state secretary ! What rationale is behind that?
“They are aware of what is happening and if care is not taken, they will be taken to court for contempt of court at the end of the day”, Dayo said.
He said that his Executives would go ahead with party congresses slated to commence soon.
