The Nigeria National League (NNL) on Friday banned the Team Secretary of the Abia Comets FC, Umuahia, Mr Jude Agbara, indefinitely from all activities of the league. The NNL also fined the football club N200, 000 over misconduct of molestation of match officials.
This was contained in a statement issued by the NNL Media Officer, Harry Awurumibe in Abuja.
The statement said that the Abia Comets playing at home with Prime FC of Osogbo in its Week 4 encounter molested the match officials in the match that ended 1-1 last weekend.
“The Nigeria National League (NNL) has slammed various degrees of sanctions on the Team Secretary; Hon. Jude Agbara of the Aba-based team for bringing the game to disrepute. Agbara was said to have led other unidentified persons to assault the match officials on their way to the dressing room after the match had ended.
“He is therefore banned indefinitely from all the activities of the NNL pending other sanctions by the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA). The N200, 000 fine slammed on the team, Abia Comet must be paid within three weeks of the pronouncement,” the statement reads.
It warned the Abia State FA and the club to ensure the security of all parties before, during and after their home matches. The statement said the directive is in line with Article 6.0 (1) of the rules of the NNL.
