A chieftain of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bode Oyedele, has described the death on Monday of a former Lagos State Governor, Chief Michael Otedola, as shocking and sad.
In a statement on Wednesday, Oyedele said that the death was a huge loss to Epe Division, Lagos State and Nigeria generally.
Oyedele, a 2015 governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP, described Otedola as a humble and astute patriot, who contributed his quota to the development of Lagos State and Nigeria.
He said, “His death is a big loss to the Epe Division, where he comes from, to Lagos State, which he governed and Nigeria, where his impact and that of his family is widely felt. For us in the Epe Division of Lagos State, we have lost a leader, a committed citizen and one of the true sons of the state and Nigeria. We can only ask Allah to grant him peace while also granting his family the grace to bear the loss.”
Oyedele said that though Otedola’s tenure in Lagos State was cut short by the military, it was nonetheless eventful, given that the late technocrat won the governorship election against all odds.
He said it was important for leaders of today to imbibe the fighting spirit, sincerity and hardwork for which the late Otedola was known.
