The Kano State Government said on Thursday that it had trained 750 women on bakery, weaving and embroidery.
Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, who announced this in Kano at the graduation of the trainees, said that the training was organized to empower women in the state.
He said that the youths, selected from all the local government areas of the state, were trained to eradicate poverty among women.
Kwankwaso also said that the training was organized to make the beneficiaries self reliant and contribute their quota to the development of the state.
He said that the government spent over N20 million in the training and empowerment of 750 women.
The governor also presented an empowerment package of N20, 000 each to all the beneficiaries.
One of the beneficiaries, Amina Sabo commended the state governor for empowering women in the state.
Dr. Binta Tijani, the state commissioner for women affairs commended the governor for supporting women in the state.
The commissioner also urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the knowledge acquired during the training to become self-reliant.
