The city of Ijebu-Ode, South-West Nigeria, will host the maiden Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, preseason football competition from Sept. 24 to Sept. 29, the organisers have said.
The tournament Director, Mr Oye Bawala, said in a statement in Lagos that 16 top teams from Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and Nigerian National League (NNL) would feature in the competition.
Bawala said the teams would converge on Ijebu-Ode to prepare for the upcoming domestic football season.
“The competition will make for an exciting spectacle for the fans, and will add intrigue to what is expected to be a fascinating footballing season for the participating teams.
“Arrival date for the teams is slated for Sept. 24, 2019, while action will commence on Sept. 25, with games holding across different centres daily, in the city,” he said.
According to the tournament director, the final of the tournament will hold on Sept. 30 at the Gateway Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
Bawala said that some of the participating teams include Gateway FC, 3SC, MFM FC, Rivers United, Sunshine Stars, Kano Pillars, Katsina United, Warri Wolves, Delta Force, Heartland and Kwara United.
