An Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court, sitting at Isabo on Monday remanded a 64-year-old man, Oluwasegun Adesina-Rasheed, and two others Samad Ojo, 20, Ope Abeeb, 18, over alleged homosexuality.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Banji Sangotokun, told the court that the offence was committed on February 14 at about 11:30 p.m. at Iwe-Iroyin area, Oke-Ilewo in Abeokuta.
He said that the three accused persons conspired to commit homosexuality. Sangotonkun added that the three men engaged in the indecent practice in the first accused’s (Adesina-Rasheed) Honda CRV jeep.
He argued that the offence contravened Sections 516, 214 (3) and 217 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006. The first accused of 1 Adenekan Street, Elite Road, Idi Aba and the two others of no fixed address pleaded not guilty to the two count charge of conspiracy and homosexuality.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Kehinde Amosa, applied for bail of his clients, but was turned down by the court. The Chief Magistrate, Mr Anthony Araba remanded the trio in Ibara Prison and adjourned the case to February 24 for mention.
