Samuel Ereola Kolawole, immediate past president of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and former managing director of the defunct Trade Bank Plc, on Monday died in Kwara Hotels, Ilorin shortly after checking in with a mistress.
Kolawole was said to have lodged in the hotel on Sunday night with the mistress (names withheld) who is said to be a staff of one of the teaching hospitals in the country.
The suspect is being detained in one of the police divisions in Ilorin where she is helping police detectives in their investigation.
A source told Daily Champion that the deceased was hale and hearty when he checked into the hotel room before the incident.
It added that Kolawale who hails from Etan in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State was said to have developed some heart-related problems.
The development led the mistress to raise an alarm which attracted the staff of the hotel to his room. He was later rushed to a private hospital in the city where he was confirmed dead.
Contacted yesterday on the incident, General Manager of the Kwara Hotels, Ilorin, Mr. Lance Hurly confirmed the incident but said he could not give more details until the approval of the family of the deceased.
Meanwhile, some former members of the staff of the bank where the deceased worked last visited the hotel premises yesterday when newsmen visited the place.
Also, the police Public Relations Officer of the command , Mr. Ezekiel Daboh said that, the command was still awaiting details of the incident as the time of filling this report.
