Family roasted to death in auto-crash

Auto crashA family of an unknown number was on Friday night roasted to death in an auto-crash which occurred on Friday night, at Rafin Gadar Datti in Dange town, along Funtua-Gusau-Sokoto road in Sokoto state.
A visit to the scene on Saturday morning revealed that the driver of the Honda Anaconda brand car, with registration number, KMC 474 JQ reportedly hit a stationary articulated vehicle with registration number, AA 282 TRK.
The driver of the ill-fated Anaconda car was said to have been driving to Sokoto from the Gusau axis with his family at around 8.00 pm. The articulated vehicle was said to have been grounded since on Friday afternoon but was reportedly not removed from the highway.
An Eye witness, Bello Danjuma said that nobody could ascertain the real number of the deceased family. “The anaconda car caught fire after the driver hit the stationary truck and the two vehicles were engulfed in fire immediately. Nobody could assist them as the two vehicles were off in flames and even the two fire service vehicles that arrived the scene could not put out the fire,” Danjuma said.
The articulated vehicle was still in smoulders when newsmen visited the scene as at around 7.00 am Saturday morning.
The spokesman of the state police command, DSP El-Mustapha Sani, confirmed the arrest of the driver of the articulated vehicle (truck). Sani also confirmed the death of the passengers in the Honda Anaconda car, saying, “our investigations will later reveal their actual number. We have just gotten a GSM number salvaged from the anaconda car and we will do all we could to verify their identities and number,” Sani, added.
The Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto state Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps ( FRSC), Mr Karatu Ayuba, also confirmed the story. Ayuba said that officials of the corps were mobilized to the scene of the accident, although none of the occupants of the burnt Honda Anaconda car could be saved. ” The details will be made available later,” he said
