As parts of concerted effort to support the state government in preventing the spread of the deadly Coronavirus, the Ogun State Parking Management Scheme on Monday organised public awareness lecture for its officers.
The sensitisation programme was held at the Parking Control office in Ibara, Abeokuta, the state capital.
The agency also distributed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to staff and officers.
Addressing heads of control unit, the General Manager, Ogun State Parking Management Scheme, Mr. Wale Yusuf commended Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration in providing necessary measures and information in curtailing the pandemic.
Yusuf stressed that, the sensitisation became imperative for the officers as they are exposed to different kinds of people while discharging their duties, thus making them vulnerable.
He therefore enjoined them to at all times go out with their sanitizer and wear their hand gloves and nose masks as parts of the preventive measures against the virus.
While sensitising the officers, an official from the state Ministry of Health, Mr. Awere Omotayo charged the officers to always use their sanitizer before issuing tickets to car owners.
Awere advised them to always make use of the government recommended sanitizer and shun the use of alcoholic as alternative use of sanitiser.
He equally cautioned them against buying fake sanitizer at unapproved pharmacy which may be injurious to their health.
He urged them to visit nearest hospital for medical check up any time they have health challenges and report any suspected case to the designated phone number by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
“Your health is important to us. Don’t use beer or other alcoholic substance as alternative to hand sanitizer. Always at all times go out with your hand gloves and sanitiser.
“Always use your hand gloves before you collect money or issue receipt for customers. Always maintain your hand hygiene and make sure you wash your hand every hour with your sanitiser.
“If you want to cough, use the tissue paper and dispose immediately or cough to your elbow in case you don’t have tissue paper. Avoid body contact or hand shake for now.”
