The House of Representatives candidate of the Alliance for New  Nigeria, (ANN) for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency during the last election, Hon. Akeem Akintayo Amosun has led over 3,000 members of his party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State.
Amosun and his loyalists were on Thursday received into the fold of the main opposition, PDP by the party stalwarts in a well attended event held at Isabo, Abeokuta, the State capital.
Speaking during the declaration, the Egba born stockbroker turned politician said he and his followers decided to join the PDP because they believed that the party is a robust and visionary party that can undo the many wrongs of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) when given the chance.
His words, “We know that there are only two main parties in the country and the people friendly-PDP and others. We have done our analyses and we found a good in PDP and with the number of fresh brains coming into the party, the party stands a good chance to unseat the APC and make things work for Nigerians.
”I and my over 3,000 followers are dumping ANN for PDP today, all these people you are seeing here are my followers and duly registered voters.
When asked if the crisis in PDP will not affect his political interest towards 2023, Amosun noted, “there is no party that will not have internal crises but we believe that the crisis in Ogun PDP is minimal and it will be resolved soon.”
He commended Hon. Ladi Adebutu Keshinton and the PDP State Chairman for their presence at the event.
Meanwhile, the Governorship aspirant of the PDP, Hon. Ladi Adebutu maintained that the APC chose the wrong person for the state, saying that the current government can not meet the standard of PDP.
Adebutu said; “As you can see throughout the federation, we (PDP) will win the 2023 elections by landslide and we thank God because of the incompetence of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and that of the APC led Federal Government.”
”If you see what is happening now in Ogun State, the governor can not step forward because if he doesn’t not get clearance from Lagos he can not do anything. Ogun State is not a subsidiary of Lagos  State we must let them know”, the former House of Representatives member declared.
Adebutu also called for a coalition of opposition against Ogun APC, saying “I urge all parties for the sake of Yoruba land and Ogun State to stand as one. We should remain one strong body, one  struggle opposition so that when APC brings their thugs  from Lagos we shall resist them.”
He added; ”We are on the mission to rescue Ogun state from an incompetent Governor and who lacks compassion for the state. So, I want to implore us to be one so that we can unseat the ruling party in 2023. By God’s grace, we will take Ogun State to greater height.
Adebutu welcomed the ANN members to PDP and assured them of equal treatment as everyone else within the party.
PDP leaders at the event included State Chairman, Hon. Sikirullahi Ogundele; Alhaja Tutu Bakare; Tosin Sodipe; Hon. Leye Odunjo; Lekan Tejuosho and a host of others
