Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Wednesday observed that Agodi Gardens, currently under reconstruction has the potential to generate more than N500 million annually. Ajimobi, who stated this during an inspection visit to the Gardens in Ibadan, said that the project, on completion, would be a reference point on recreation in Nigeria.
He said that the Gardens, sitting on 62 hectares of land, would serve as a place for leisure and relaxation, especially during festivities. Ajimobi explained that the first phase of the Gardens which is due to be inaugurated in April, would be equipped with Water Park, slides and swimming pool. Other features in the Gardens include, restaurant, events hall, open areas for picnicking, a nine-hole golf course, health firm and boat ride, among others.
“My administration has invested so much on tourism to increase the state Internally Generated Revenue and boost the economy of the state,’’ he said.
The Gardens, until a few months ago, had been a haven for reptiles and rodents. This, in spite of its closeness to the state secretariat, the seat of government, scaring away prospective leisure seekers.
